Eared departure ...
We said goodbye to the two eared-owls, which came to the Centre in early 2009. One of the owls was discovered in the vicinity of Yaroslavl with a number of visible external injuries. Probably was attacked by a much larger predator. Fortunately, she managed to escape. Owl was noticed by the casual passers-by, when with considerable loss of feathers in the left wing she unsuccessfully tried to fly into the air. People who found her immediately brought her to us. In our Centre a long rehabilitation and recovery awaited her. In turn, the second-eared hit two months later than its predecessor. Found it gloomily near the city highway. She was in persistent shock. We suspected that the shock was a result of an accidental collision with a car ride, which is quite a common occurrence on busy routes. Fortunately, in addition to sprained wings we did not diagnosed any other serious injuries. The two owls for the duration of treatment have remained together in one volier. They became friends. After several months of treatment they were ready to go. Owls recovered freedom in the neighborhood of Przemysl, near Paclawska Calvary. Hilly, forested and much less populated area gives them excellent living conditions. Farewell did not last long. Birds quickly spread their wings and solemnity characteristic of them ascended into the sky.
