Roe Deer rescue service...
Unfortunately, we have recently observed that the number of injured roe deer has risen during the last few years. Such a situation has been very difficult for us. The animals mainly get injured hit by cars on busy, suburban roads, they fall victims to burned grass, or during hay and harvest time. Severe winters make it harder for them to get proper food, young animals sometimes for different reasons separated from their mother are left alone and need to be looked after with care. It often takes a long time to nurse the animals back to health. More than once we had to deal with roe deer running free in the town center. Only recently has Poland been deeply moved by the story of two baby roe deer born after their mother had been recovered from the river San. Sadly, we could not save the parent’s life. We are doing our best to cure all ruminants delivered to our centre, but to succeed we need more proper facilities, hence the ‘Roe Deer rescue service’. To create professional facility where we could nurse the animals back to health we are trying to collect some funds. As the Roe Deer are game animals we cannot ask our state institutions for financial support. Still, we managed to make contacts with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) in the UK. RSPCA animal centres deal successfully with a wide range of injured and rescued animals including the roe deer. To find more about our campaign go to the section “Our actions” (click HERE). During the last two days two injured adult animals were brought to our centre, and this time one fell victim hit by a car and the other got injured trapped in house fences in suburban areas. Unfortunately, the first roe deer is in a critical condition, and although we know there is little chance of saving it we are trying our best to help. The other animal is in a good state of health and is slowly but surely coming round.
