'You will fly...!'
Another White-tailed Eagle landed in our Rehabilitation Centre because of severe poisoning. It was in critical state when it was found half-paralysed in the suberbs of Lezajsk. The first one of Ernes that came to us this year unfortunatly died during transportation, the second (already in the state of agony) didn't make it despite our effort. Even though help came immidietely, Erne - called the King of Polish skies - died. The last of them is now under intensive care. You can see on the photos below that it is really beautiful bird. It doesn't stop fighting for its life. We hope for the best and we do everything we can to help. It's state has already improved. Paralysis slowly disappear and it's getting better every day. After treating is done Erne will be our guest for some time of observation. Then, as soon as it'll be strong enough and if there won't be any complications it'll soar into the air.
At the moment the White-tailed Eagle population oscillate around 700 pairs. It's image is in the Polish national emblem. General reason for those tragic poisoning is simply poisoned carrion - mostly dead, poisened with the pesticides foxes wich are tidbits for Ernes. One of the most dangerous poisons is specific called Furadan. Even a small dose of it is highly toxic for wild animals and can cause its death. If you want to see how that poison influances bird's organism you can easly find it on "YouTube" (just search for 'Furadan'). If you're intrested in this increasing problem there's a good article about entitled "Eagle's death".
