House for the vixen!
Support the building house for the vixen!
Thanks to your help and support from previous auctions the expansion of our Centre continues. So far we managed already to separate entire premises of the Centre, thanks to what injured storks (at present them over 30 are) have better conditions for recovery as soon as possible.
The extensive, afforested and enclosed meadow is giving them possibilities, thanks to which for the entire period of their convalescence the storks are training in the full calmness into expanses self-reliance. Simultaneously the enclosed area protects them against uninvited guests (people, other animals) which could shatter this peace. It is also sheltering storks from getting lost in the most immediate surroundings, and it is giving us t control and certainty that some of our patients by chance didn't get lost.
In the summer of 2005 a tiny vixen hit our Centre. She was found on the outskirts of town, by the dead mother. She was so tiny that she wasn't able to manage oneself at large. For the first period of convalescence she required milk feeding. For her too early discharge would be a sentence for her. A vixen from her first days became our patient and started to get accustomed herself to people showing full confidence of them and treats them as ones of the fox community. She isn't afraid; she isn't escaping, but alone coming up to people. Taking into consideration present-day stereotypes of the society in relation to foxes and the „ sympathy” that people are presenting towards these animals we are forced to lock her up for the night. For her meeting with any strange man could end tragically. During the day the vixen spends time with the volunteer which is looking her after from the very beginning. They go for walks and they run around the entire Centre. The vixen settled in for good. One could say that she became the second visiting card (after storks) of our Centre. She has even a devoted friend. It’s Tigra our domestic Alsatian. Their shared games are doing the phenomenal impression, when they are running together, racing and jumping on themselves as well as falling down together. Now our priority is to build a big aviary for our vixen which will provide her enough space and comfort while staying at night in the lock. Present cage is definitely too small. The cost of a new, special aviary is about 6 / 7 thousand zlotys. We need to buy an aviary big enough, to ensure its secure patch, the natural environment in which she comes to live with wild representatives. Adequate depth of the cage will provide her an opportunity to dig the burrows and to prevent undermining. Adequate height will give her the possibility (after mounting a few shelves with solid wood industry) space for climbing and jumping. This aviary will give her much more freedom and a sense of its natural environment. Unfortunately, the cost of implementing this type of construction, as mentioned above is not the cheapest one. We insistently try to collect the necessary financial means by which we can fully cover the costs of our project and which will enable us to move our vixen as quickly as possible ... Thanks to the kindliness of good people we managed to build the foundation and to build the scaffolding of the planned aviary. It is possible to see the effects of our work below. Unfortunately we had to get into debt in order to complete the project before the winter. We do care much that the vixen could settle in a new aviary right before the first snowfall.
Therefore, as a Foundation; the Rehabilitation Center of Protected Animals in Przemyśl we entered into the National Court Register (KRS) under the heading:
KRS 0000313847
we turn the urgent and kindly ask for financial support. Every penny counts. We are very grateful for every payment and support, which is for us and above all for our charges extremely valuable.
Thank you for any voluntary contributions.
